David Hurst, Vice President for Advanced Technology
|
David Hurst is a co-founder of Lisle Technology Partners and has been a
software entrepreneur throughout most of his career. He was a founder in
four start-up companies and took one of them public. As a LisleTech partner,
David does strategic business and software development consulting for
early stage and start-up technology companies, preparing them for successful
venture capital funding and product launching. He has a proven track record
of leading distributed development teams to deliver successful software
products.
|
Presently, David is focused on developing innovative technology to
help organizations analyze existing network security policy and enable a
policy-driven approach to govern and execute
changes to network perimeter security configurations.
David also executes technical due diligence reviews of early stage start-up
companies for Venture Capital firms in the Chicago area. These have included
companies in the electronic trading exchange and network security markets.
As a leading expert in XML, he architected and managed the development of core
technology products for a LisleTech client, XMLSolutions Corporation. He co-designed
XEDI, a patent-pending technology for XML-based business-to-business e-commerce.
His successful delivery of products to manage trading partner relationships,
manipulate metadata about electronic business documents, and
translate business documents between electronic data interchange
formats (EDI) and various dialects of XML was instrumental in XML
Solutions’ growth as a successful enterprise business-to-business
e-commerce solutions provider. In April 2001 XMLSolutions was sold to
Vitria Technology primarily for the technology developed by Lisle Technology
Partners.
Starting as a founder of Vista Technologies and then continuing
as a founder of Peritus Software Services, David radically improved
software quality enabling those companies to deliver software products
on time and in budget. In 1997, Peritus went public and created a $500
million market capitalization. He developed advanced software tool
frameworks based on object-oriented technology including HyperWeb™
and PCTE Workbench™ that significantly improved software productivity.
He designed LisleTech's innovative ProjectVision™ tool for
managing remote software development teams around the globe.
He was a founder and executive
partner in Nexus-Chicago, one of the first community-based Internet
Service Providers in the Chicago area. While at Nexus, David designed
and constructed large parts of the ISP's network infrastructure,
deployed security systems, and implemented virtual hosting technologies
before such services were widely available on the Internet.
David's expertise includes XML technologies, B2B e-commerce,
electronic commodity trading systems, Web services, software engineering
methods, computer networking, data encryption, network security, computer
graphics, user interfaces, and CASE tools. He holds a B.S. in Electrical
Engineering and Computer Science from Northwestern University.
